Rich Crab Sauce Recipe

If you are a fan of salty foods, then you should definitely try crab sauce. Crab sauce is a delicacy in some cultures, and is enjoyed by many because of its highly salty taste that can perfectly complement blander dishes.

It is served in most seafood restaurants, and is actually very easy to make yourself at home. So, if you haven’t already tried crab sauce, you definitely should.

Some people avoid cooking dishes that they eat out in restaurants because they perceive them to be too difficult or complex. But, cooking doesn’t have to be difficult.

If you prepare well, and have a good recipe at hand, then making your own crab sauce can actually be a piece of cake.

In this guide, I’m giving you a wonderful crab sauce recipe, along with all the other knowledge you need to make cooking it easy. So with no further ado, let’s get started.

What is Crab Sauce?

But first, let’s take a look at what crab sauce is. There are lots of variations of this recipe, so let’s make sure that this is the one that you are looking for. Crab sauce is a sauce that has crab meat at the heart of the recipe.

It is not a sauce in the traditional sense, as the crab meat makes it very thick and clumpy. Instead, it has a consistency similar to BBQ pulled pork or mac and cheese.

Crab sauce has a rich taste and, as I have said, it is also very salty. This saltiness makes it great to serve with other dishes. In particular, crab sauce is often served with a lovely piece of steak to take the dish to the next level.

This is especially common in seafood restaurants.

So many people love crab sauce because it is a real showstopper. You can take an incredibly boring dish, add crab sauce, and suddenly it is completely transformed into something wonderful.

Crab sauce can make a meal really special, and it doesn’t take very long to make. Even from scratch.

The main reason why people avoid cooking at home is that they expect restaurant-quality food to be difficult to make. But crab sauce is easy and stress-free to make.

This combined with the fact that it takes barely any time to do makes it the perfect way to level-up a home cooked meal.

So, let’s take a look at the ingredients and equipment that you will need at the ready when you begin making your own crab sauce.

Ingredients: You Will Need

The key to making cooking as stress-free as possible is to be prepared! In my opinion, preparation is the most important part of cooking. You should have all your ingredients at the ready so that you can simply add them as and when needed.

If you haven’t got all of your ingredients prepared, then you will find yourself rushing around trying to find stuff, and that is usually when things start going wrong.

So here’s a complete list of all the ingredients and equipment you need to make your crab sauce from scratch.

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound of jumbo crab meat
  • 8 tbsp of butter
  • 2 tsp of seafood seasoning (Old Bay is our favorite)
  • 1 tbsp shallot
  • 1 tbsp garlic
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley
  • ¼ cup heavy cream

Equipment:

  • Mincer
  • Saucepan or Sauté pan

Once you have gathered all of your ingredients and equipment, then you are ready to get started. So, let me tell you what to do next.

Recipe: A Step-by-Step Guide

After you have done all of your preparation, you are ready to get started on your crab sauce. To help make the process as simple as possible, read this step-by-step guide thoroughly before you get cooking.

That way, you will be familiar with the recipe before you start. With that in mind, let’s begin.

Step One: Prepare Your Ingredients

First, you should gather your ingredients. The crab meat, butter, seafood seasoning, fresh parsley, and heavy cream will be ready to use once you measure them. But the shallot and garlic will need to be prepared further.

To do this, you should take your mincer and add 1 tbsp of shallot to it. Once you have minced your shallot, remove this from the mincer, and then add your garlic.

Mince the garlic, then remove it from the mincer and place it to one side. All of your ingredients are then prepared.

Step Two: Heat Your Pan

When all the ingredients are fully prepared, you can then begin cooking. The first thing that you should do is turn your hob to medium heat and begin heating your Sauté or saucepan. When the pan begins to heat up, you can then start cooking.

Step Three: Begin Cooking Your Seasoning

After your pan has heated up, you can then begin adding your ingredients. The first things that you should add to the pan are your garlic and the shallots.

You should then add 2 tbsp of butter to the pan and keep watching until the garlic and shallots begin softening.

Step Four: Add Your Cream

As soon as the garlic and shallots have softened, you can then add your heavy cream to the mixture. Add the whole ¼ cup, then keep the pan on the hob until the mixture reduces by half.

Step Five: Add Your Crab

When the mixture has reduced, you should turn the heat down to a low temperature. You should then add 2 tbsp of butter and stir thoroughly. Repeat this until you have no butter left.

By this time the sauce will be smooth, and you can add your crab. Add your crab slowly, folding in with every bit that you add. Finish by adding the parsley. Keep the sauce on the heat until the crab has warmed through, then serve and enjoy.

Summary

In short, this has been a handy guide to making crab sauce. So, if you are looking for an easy and stress-free recipe, follow the one that I have given you above.
